ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER:

Growing up fascinated by his surroundings during his family’s annual cross country road trips beginning in Texas to visit relatives in New York, Aaron Simon passed time capturing photos. His earliest shots were taken, and mostly wasted, with disposable cameras, but his interest in the everyday contrasts of life remained strong. Aaron continued to document street scenes and landscapes when he relocated respectively to coastal Maine, Southern California and then New York City where he learned to develop black and white film by hand using the dark room process.

Now living in the art-filled North Brooklyn area of NYC, Aaron’s muse is the contrast of old and new where deteriorating industrial buildings rest side-by-side with shiny new residential buildings. Aaron displays the visceral and enchanting images on these very streets.
